If your trip to Korea only involves eating, drinking, and shopping, you're missing out. This free museum, showcasing 400,000 artifacts from prehistoric times to the Three Kingdoms and the modern history of the Korean Empire, offers a concentrated experience of Korea's historical journey.
If you're visiting with kids, there's no need to worry. Wondering what landscapes are depicted in ancient paintings? With circular projections and digital floor displays, you can immerse yourself in ancient Korean culture and the scenes depicted in the artwork. The rich audiovisual effects make it feel like you're truly there.
In the archaeological exploration exhibit, VR and technology recreate how archaeologists discover tombs, interpret figures on murals, and delve step by step into cave findings. The most fun feature is the interactive giant screen at the entrance. A camera captures designated areas and displays them on the big screen, making it easy to take a group photo.
The museum's displays and lighting arrangements are also aesthetically pleasing. A six-meter-tall giant stele rubbing reproduces the inscriptions of King Gwanggaeto's tomb. There's an interesting story behind this—the ceiling height was specially raised during renovations to fully showcase these exhibits.
