Ikseon-dong truly is the perfect intersection of old and new Seoul. Stepping off the busy Jongno street and into the village is like entering a secret, preserved world. My personal highlight was finding a hidden Hanok café that specialized in modern matcha lattes and artisanal pastries. Sitting on the smooth, polished maru (wooden floor) looking out at a tiny, sun-drenched courtyard felt incredibly authentic yet totally chic. The café design masterfully preserved the traditional wooden beams and roofline while adding minimalist, high-design furniture. It's a fantastic spot for slow travel—you could easily lose an entire afternoon here, simply enjoying the tranquility and the fantastic coffee. It’s a photographer’s dream and a caffeine addict’s paradise all wrapped up in the warm embrace of traditional architecture. The careful renovation of these spaces is truly inspiring.
