Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao: A warm experience for New Year stay

The day before New Year's Eve, I flew to Shanghai, planning to stay for one night and then go to Japan to celebrate the New Year on New Year's Eve. For two consecutive years, I chose to take a flight from Shanghai to Japan on New Year's Eve. I have to say that Shanghai around the New Year has the least population in the year, and hotel prices are relatively low, which makes the price-performance ratio very high. Although some of the restaurants I often go to are closed, it is still worth it to be able to stay in your favorite hotel at an affordable price. After landing at Hongqiao Airport, I chose the Shanghai Hongqiao Xiangyuan Hilton Hotel nearby. This was also my first time staying in a Hilton brand hotel after the restart of the Hilton membership program.

Warm service, considerate upgrade

On the eve of New Year's Eve, the hotel was a little deserted, perhaps because it was past the peak period, and there were only two front desk staff on duty. But their warm attitude and thoughtful service left me a very good first impression. At the time I was a gold member and booked a basic room, but was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a newly renovated room. Although I wasn't sure what room type I was upgraded to and it wasn't shown on the app, since the front desk introduced it to me, I gladly accepted it and thanked them.

New Year atmosphere, grand lobby

The hotel is filled with the atmosphere of the New Year, with red lanterns hanging high in front of the door and magnificent money trees placed in the lobby, which is festive and lively. The lobby is very grand, with marble floors and columns showing a high-end texture. Although the hotel has been open for many years, it is still in excellent condition, which shows its quality.

Spacious and comfortable room

🏘️The room is very large and feels more spacious than the corner rooms in many similar hotels, about 40 to 50 square meters. The apartment is square in layout and has a full sense of space. As soon as you step into the room, you will feel comfortable.
In terms of decoration style, the renovated rooms are modern and warm, with brand new wall decorations and furniture. Except for the tiles and floor tiles in the bathroom, which still retain some of the old Hilton style, everything else is like a new hotel.
🛌The living experience was great, the hardware facilities were easy to use, the bed was very comfortable, and the light blocking and sound insulation in the room were excellent, allowing me to sleep until noon the next day and almost missed the restaurant reservation. The only drawback is that there is no electric toilet, but overall it does not affect the comfort of the stay at all.

Pleasant public area, unique landscape

The public areas of the hotel have changed from their old-fashioned style to less business-like and more cozy and pleasant. As a temporary residence, such a relaxed atmosphere makes people feel very comfortable. There is a sky garden on the upper floor with beautiful scenery. It is also connected to a tennis court, which is similar to a tennis academy and is very novel and interesting.

🧹The sound insulation is excellent, and you can hardly hear any sound from the outside world in the room. The sanitation is also very good, and the rooms and public areas are spotless.

💗Other tips: When traveling during the Chinese New Year, it is important to know the restaurant opening hours in advance to avoid missing out on your favorite restaurant like I did. The overall experience of this hotel is great, whether it is the service, room facilities or atmosphere, it is worth recommending.
