I've hiked the Yuanshan Trail several times, but I didn't realize until this trip that there are several routes. I've probably only hiked one-tenth of it before.
Today, I started from the trail next to the Grand Hotel and continued down Tongbei Street. The entire hike took about an hour, which is quite easy.
There are several Kuomintang checkpoints along the way. They're now abandoned, of course, but you can imagine how heavily fortified this area was in the past, protecting Chiang Kai-shek.
There are also several rest stops along the way with expansive views. You can watch planes taking off and landing in Dazhi or the Guanyin Mountain area in Beitou.
Next time, I might go in the evening to take pictures of the sunset; it should be beautiful.
Any friends who enjoy hiking? Let's make a date and hike together!
