A while ago, I visited Nanxiang Ancient Town, one of Shanghai's four major ancient towns. Named after the White Crane Nanxiang Temple, the town has over 1,500 years of history.
Free entry to the town makes it easy to explore, with admission to Tan Garden at 18 RMB per person. The Nanxiang Twin Pagodas are iconic landmarks, with an ancient well from the Liang Dynasty underneath. Liuyun Zen Temple, dating back to 505 AD, offers three free incense sticks for visitors. Tan Garden, a small but serene retreat, adds to the charm.
Combining a visit to Guyi Garden and Nanxiang Impression City makes for a full day of exploration. The nearby creative park along the river offers lovely scenery and is perfect for photos. Nanxiang Ancient Town's historic charm and beauty make it a worthwhile destination.
