Minhang Museum "Zhenguan Mirror" Practical Guide

🌌 A glance at a thousand years, touching the warmth of the Zhenguan flourishing era

Opening the door to the Minhang Museum "Zhenguan Mirror" exhibition hall feels like stepping into a time tunnel of the early Tang Dynasty. The weathered reliefs of the Six Steeds of Zhaoling flow in the light and shadow, the robes of the tri-colored Hu figurines seem to be stirred by the Silk Road winds, and the flying white script on the epitaph of Yuchi Jingde still carries the ink fragrance of a thousand years. This exhibition weaves the brilliance of the Zhenguan governance into a three-dimensional grand picture with 132 cultural relics as the thread.

🏺 Must-see exhibits: The code of the prosperous era in cultural relics
1⃣ Epitaph of Yuchi Jingde
Highlights: The epitaph cover uses the rare flying white script, with 25 characters carved like blades; the 2,218-character regular script inscription details the legendary life of this Lingyan Pavilion meritorious official, from the thrilling Xuanwu Gate Incident to his outstanding military achievements guarding the frontier, serving as a "living archive" of early Tang history.
Significance: The epitaph was unearthed from Zhaoling in Shaanxi and is a precious artifact for studying Tang political systems and calligraphy art.

2⃣ Tri-colored Female Horse Rider Figurine
Details: The female rider with a high bun wears a narrow-sleeved long robe and high boots, holding the reins with both hands in a dashing posture that overturns traditional female images, showcasing the confidence and freedom of women during the Zhenguan period.
Background: Unearthed from Li Xian’s tomb, the flowing tri-colored glaze confirms the peak of Tang pottery craftsmanship.

3⃣ Gilded Silver Pot (on display late March)
Craftsmanship: The pot body is carved with the Greek myth "Judgment of Paris," perfectly blending Persian Sassanian engraving techniques with Central Plains patterns, a treasure of Silk Road cultural fusion.
Story: Unearthed in Guyuan, Ningxia, it once traveled across the desert with Sogdian merchant caravans, witnessing Chang’an’s prosperity as an international metropolis.
