✅ Chongming Confucian Temple is located in Chengqiao Town, Chongming District, Shanghai. It is one of the three remaining complete Confucian temples in Shanghai, originally built during the Ming Dynasty, and currently houses the Chongming Museum.
✔️ Chongming Confucian Temple integrates functions of worship, education, and exhibition. It features a grand complex of Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient buildings and displays the history, folk culture, and precious artifacts of Chongming Island, making it an excellent place to learn about Chongming’s historical and cultural heritage.
✔️ The temple currently preserves ancient structures such as the Lingxing Gate, Pan Pool, Dengyun Bridge, Dacheng Hall, and Chongsheng Shrine, with a strict layout and magnificent grandeur. Two Qing Dynasty stone archways in front of the gate are engraved with “Virtue matches Heaven and Earth, the Way surpasses ancient and modern,” full of ancient charm. The Lingxing Gate is the main entrance of the temple, with a 350-year-old ginkgo tree and stone lions in front, exuding a strong sense of history.
