Yuxi's most authentic old street, Xinxing Street
If it's your first time in Yuxi, I would definitely recommend the old street food, which is the most down-to-earth food street in Yuxi, consisting of Xinxing Road, Beimen Street, and Nanmen Street. This place is filled with local Yuxi flavors, where traditional snacks converge, and the morning and night markets are distinct from each other.
Food Recommendations
Hongji Cold Rice Noodles
A favorite among locals, traditional Yuxi cold rice noodles, 9 yuan per serving, plus traditional ice porridge. It's always bustling with customers every day.
Shidu Snacks
This is the shop I recommend the most, with sour tamarind juice cold rice noodles, ice porridge, and papaya water, all traditional Yuxi snacks available here, not only good-looking but also affordable. Especially the environment of the century-old Siheyuan, which is antique. Starting at 5 yuan per person, many locals have breakfast here, very peaceful.
Diao Gao Lotus Root Powder
A mobile grandma's pastry stall, located in the center of Xinxing Road, steamed cakes paired with a bowl of lotus root powder. Starting at 10 yuan
Lao Mao Baked Buns
With scallion oil, pickled vegetables, and various flavors, vegetarian from 5 yuan, meat from 7 yuan. The texture is crispy, especially recommended
Fried Potato Cakes
They are granular, and the most authentic stall is opposite Nie Er's former residence, with sweet and spicy sauce available. 3 yuan each, traditional Yuxi flavor.
Papaya Water
Yuxi's papaya water is strip-shaped, served with brown sugar water, also a century-old traditional dessert. 3 yuan
There are also bean flour sweet dumplings, boiled meat rice noodles, alley beef rice noodles, etc.
