The day I went to Yuyuan Old Street, I have to say the weather was not very friendly… It was drizzling and so cold that I had to hug myself tightly. Even though I prepared a raincoat, it was still freezing.
So I didn’t wait and had a cup of hot tea before continuing my walk. I felt like tea was the true friend on a day when the weather was unbearable.
This pedestrian street has so many shops, it’s easy to get lost walking around, even going down some alleys more than once without realizing it. I got to try many things, but the most memorable was the giant xiaolongbao that everyone says you must try… Honestly, the taste was just okay. I actually prefer the smaller ones because they have less dough, just the right amount of soup, and are easy to eat without needing many tricks.
Even though it was raining, the evening atmosphere was amazing. The lights came on and it looked beautiful. The old buildings in classic Chinese style were truly impressive. The architecture was wonderful, pleasing to the eyes and heart, and every photo came out beautiful from every angle.
It’s another place where you really have to walk yourself to feel the vibe because it has its own unique charm. Even if you get a little wet, your heart feels full.
