The newly opened Minnan Bistro on Julu Road is simply delicious!

As the saying goes, "Julu Road is full of hidden gems—it all depends on how well you explore."
This time, at No. 405 Julu Road inside Xiazhili, I discovered a newly opened Minnan cuisine Bistro, and it’s absolutely fantastic!

The restaurant’s name is quite interesting. After asking the owner, I learned that "Xiabai'er" means a blessing in the Minnan dialect—literally, "May you eat until you're 120 years old." It’s essentially a wish for health and longevity through good food. [👍]

The entrance is super hidden—without paying attention to the signs, you’d easily miss it. The first floor isn’t open yet, but the second floor is already in business 🈺️. The moment you step upstairs, you’re stunned by the restaurant’s aesthetic—it’s so atmospheric!

One side of the long dining table is a bar counter, while the far end is a tea-drinking area. The floor-to-ceiling windows perfectly frame the greenery of the surrounding buildings. The private dining room next to it even has a huge terrace, offering both privacy and tranquility—the vibe is just amazing!

The restaurant specializes in Fujian seafood. Though the space isn’t large, it has a dedicated seafood counter where you can see the fresh ingredients of the day and pick them directly.

For cold dishes, the Wenzhou duck tongue and Wenzhou fish cakes are my favorites—instantly transporting me back to Wenzhou! The fish cakes, in particular, are delightfully chewy, and with a dip of rice vinegar, their umami flavor really shines. Perfect with drinks!

The boiled Dongshan small squid is incredibly fresh—each piece is plump and bouncy. The boiling method doesn’t mask the squid’s natural sweetness at all; instead, it makes it even more satisfying!

Noticing the high-quality oil-belt fish, I ordered a steamed one. The fish meat was thick and tender, melting in the mouth and releasing its rich, delicate flavor—so delicious!

I ended the meal with a bowl of Fujian-style stir-fried rice noodles—absolutely perfect!

Besides the classic pairing of food with wine, I also recommend pairing the dishes with tea. The tea selection here is excellent, giving off strong Fujian vibes! (Lately, I’ve been hearing "Fortune from All Directions" and "Great Ambitions" nonstop—hahaha!)
