Tips for Visiting Shanghai Disneyland with Kids 🐼

📍 Shanghai, China

Here’s my personal guide to navigating Shanghai Disneyland with children! This time, I tried renting a stroller for the first time 👶, and it was incredibly convenient 👍.

🟠 Food Allowed Inside
You can bring food into Disneyland! I packed plenty of easy-to-eat snacks like bread and cookies for the waiting times. While there are various food stands inside the park, they’re quite pricey and, in my opinion, not particularly tasty. Many people also choose to eat at the restaurants in the nearby Disneytown outside the park, which are more affordable.

🟠 Stroller Rental
You can rent a double stroller for 60 yuan/day. There are various plans, including half-day rentals and single strollers. I rented mine right outside Exit 1 of the subway and returned it near Exit 4. They also stored my personal stroller for me. While you can bring your own stroller into the park, most people opt for the rental ones. During attraction wait times, you’ll need to leave the stroller in designated areas, so it’s better not to bring expensive strollers. The rental strollers are affordable and very convenient—I’ll definitely rent one again next time!

🟠 Mickey’s Storybook Reservation
Mickey’s Storybook is very popular and requires a reservation via the app. After entering the park, scan the QR code on your ticket to book the next available time slot. There are various shows, but Mickey’s Storybook is especially fun because you get to meet many different characters!

🟠 Stargazer Restaurant is Spacious and Quiet
Located near the entrance in the "Tomorrowland" area (where attractions like Tron are), this food court was relatively empty and a great choice. It mainly serves burgers 🍔, has plenty of seating, and is close to restrooms. While preschoolers can’t ride Tron, there are attractions like Stitch without height restrictions.

🟠 Attractions Require 100cm Height
Most attractions have a height requirement of 100cm, so preschoolers often can’t ride them 😢. However, there are some attractions without height restrictions, and watching shows or simply strolling around the park is still very enjoyable. Time flies as you explore these options!

🟠 Zootopia is a Must-Visit
Zootopia is unique to Shanghai Disneyland, so it’s a must-see! The wait time to enter the Zootopia area can be long, so I recommend heading there first thing after entering the park. When I visited, it took 60 minutes to enter the area and 120 minutes to ride the Zootopia attraction. The actual wait felt slightly shorter, but it’s still a significant wait 💔. However, the Zootopia experience was amazing, especially the immersive attraction—it’s definitely worth it!
