Introducing Tongli
Tongli Ancient Town, located in Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, boasts a rich cultural heritage and exquisite ancient architecture, and has long been described by literati as the poetic Jiangnan region. A simple description of it can be found in the phrase "small bridges, flowing water, and homes." While there, one experiences the magical feeling of being immersed in this poetic and picturesque scene.
There are many gardens, temples, mansions and former residences of celebrities built in the Ming and Qing dynasties in the town. Tongli has many ancient bridges because of the abundance of water. Fifteen small rivers in the shape of a Chinese character "川" divide the ancient town into seven small islands, and 49 ancient bridges connect them into one. It is famous for its "small bridges, flowing water and houses".
