The Xujiahui Library is truly a gem in Shanghai! Designed by the renowned British architect David Chipperfield (who also designed the West Bund Museum), with the interior masterfully crafted by famous architect Yu Ting's team, it's a stunning space. Currently, four floors are open for public enjoyment:
Basement 1 & Ground Floor: Here you'll find the delightful "East West Park" cafe ☕ and a selection of Shanghai-style cultural and creative products. Perfect for a little break or picking up a unique souvenir!
Ground Floor: This level is dedicated to the Children's Reading Area, making it a fantastic spot for little bookworms! 🧒📖
Second Floor: This is the main Service Area, where you can both borrow books and enjoy reading in-house.
Third Floor: Home to the Special Collections Area, including their precious ancient texts – the real treasures of the library! 📜👑
Opening Hours:
Tuesday to Sunday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM (Last entry at 8:30 PM)
Please note: The Children's Area on the first floor and the third floor are open from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Closed on Mondays.
