🇨🇳 Shanghai, China 中国上海
🍀 World Expo Cultural Park 世博文化公园
If you're traveling to China in July or August, make sure to visit the lotus attractions in various cities. During my trip to Shanghai in early July, I explored several lotus spots, and among them, the World Expo Cultural Park 世博文化公园 stood out with its beautifully blooming lotuses.
The World Expo Cultural Park 世博文化公园 does not charge an entrance fee, but if you want to visit the greenhouse or Shanghai Garden, you'll need to purchase separate tickets. Even just exploring the park's entrance area allows you to enjoy the vast lotus fields, making the free section of the park more than sufficient for a delightful experience.
Although Shanghai's July weather exceeds 30°C and can be quite hot, the artificial lakes created using water from the Huangpu River in the World Expo Cultural Park provide a refreshing atmosphere. With plenty of trees offering shade, outdoor activities remain comfortable even in the summer heat.
The lotus ponds, filled with pink, light pink, and white blossoms of various types, are stunningly beautiful. Ducks wandering around the ponds add to the peaceful scenery. I was surprised to find that the lotuses emitted a fresh fragrance, contrary to my previous belief that lotuses are scentless!
The World Expo Cultural Park 世博文化公园 is easily accessible by subway, making it a convenient destination. If you're visiting Shanghai during the lotus season in July or August, be sure to stop by, admire the blooming lotuses, and capture some beautiful photos 💚
