Shanghai Romance: The French Quarter

#chinatravel Did a spontaneous citywalk around Shanghai (in Shanghai Municipality, China), and honestly? Best decision ever. This city is made for walking. One minute you’re surrounded by shiny skyscrapers, the next you’re strolling down leafy lanes with old shikumen houses and little cafés tucked into corners.
Started around the French Concession, so many cozy streets, cool architecture, and random spots to grab coffee or street snacks (scallion pancakes? Yes please). It’s got this laid-back, artsy vibe but still feels super local. People were walking their dogs, painting outside, or just chilling with a book.
Then wandered toward the Bund for those iconic skyline views. Still hits, every time. Especially when the lights start coming on, pure city magic.
What I love most about walking here? You find stuff you’d totally miss in a car or taxi. Little art shops, local noodle joints, random quiet alleys that feel frozen in time. Shanghai on foot just hits different. Go slow, look around, and soak it all in.
