Mount Mingyue is a 5A-level scenic area with a clean environment. Every scenic spot will make you marvel at the charm of nature!
"Bright moon everywhere, but the moon in Yichun is the brightest" is a line from an ancient poem. Mount Mingyue in Yichun is one of the origins of this rich moon culture. Mount Mingyue is named after the "moon-like stone" on the mountain. The beautiful scenery of bamboo forests, waterfalls, pine waves, and strange peaks makes this famous mountain "a different world every mile." According to mythological epics, Mount Mingyue is the hometown of Chang'e, the place where she flew to the moon. Therefore, Yichun is known as the "Moon Capital" and "Moon City."
The pure climbing route ascends from 422 m to 1,556 m, a climb of over 1,100 m. It takes about 3 hours to climb the mountain and about 2 hours to descend. It takes about 1.5–2 hours to visit Mingyue Lake and Qingyun Walkway at the top of the mountain, and about 7 hours in total. The difficulty is similar to Mount Tai, with many waterfalls and heavy mist along the way.
The scenery at the top of the mountain is beautiful after passing through the clouds. There is a ski resort in winter. There is a cable car directly to the top of the mountain, and a shuttle bus at the top of the mountain. You can walk the whole way without walking, and there is a cross-scenic train directly to Yangshimu Scenic Area.
There are two ways to visit Mount Mingyue.
One is to hike from the lower cable car station to the upper station, with 6,381 steps and an altitude increase from 450 m to 1,580 m. However, the five waterfalls are all concentrated between the lower and middle cable car stations, namely Yungu Waterfall, Linglong Waterfall, Yulin Waterfall, Yulong Waterfall, and Feilian Waterfall. There are only steps between the middle and upper cable car stations.
The other is to buy a ticket. The ticket for Mount Mingyue is CNY 90, and the cable car is CNY 150 for a round trip. It is more cost-effective to buy a package or joint ticket. There is also an electric car, CNY 20 for a round trip from the visitor center to the lower station, a 10-minute walk; CNY 30 for a round trip from the upper station to Mount Mingyue, a 30-minute walk.
Mount Mingyue Scenic Area consists of Xingyue Cave, Qingyun Walkway, and Moon Lake. The cave is just a cave, and the lake is just a lake, with no special features. Qingyun Walkway is 3,100 m long and built on a cliff. People with a fear of heights need not worry, as the fog is so thick that you can't see the bottom. If you're lucky, you can see the 5A scenery. There are several scenic spots along the way, such as Dolphin Watching the Moon, Jade Rabbit Guarding the Moon, Chang'e Flying to the Moon, Crocodile Listening to the Waves, and Tortoise Exploring the Road.
