Weekend at Chunli Homestay, the kids' secret base

Afternoon sunlight slants over the courtyard pool, and the children's laughter has long turned this place into a sea of joy. The water guns spray with a "splash," drawing sparkling arcs in the sunlight. The kids chase each other, stepping in puddles, not minding their wet pant legs, focused only on "battling" with their water guns alongside their friends. Occasionally, someone slips and falls into the shallow water, splashing water mixed with crisp laughter, and even the air is filled with sweet moisture.

In the billiard room, the older kids stand on tiptoe holding their cues, aiming with impressive posture. The crisp sound of the white ball hitting the colored balls blends wonderfully with the playful water sounds outside. The adults lounge on the living room sofa, teasing the lazy orange cat at their feet—it’s the homestay’s "treasure." When petted comfortably, it slowly strolls to the terrace and curls up on the rattan chair to bask in the sun.

The sunset dyes the sky a warm orange, and the round table gradually fills with dishes. The aroma of braised pork has already made everyone peek eagerly—the glossy sauce coats the cubes of meat, shimmering delicately. The first bite is a rich, savory flavor, followed by a soft, melting texture on the tongue. Even the fatty parts carry a hint of sweetness, no wonder the kids hold their bowls chasing for more. Besides the braised pork, there’s the freshness of steamed fish, the crispness of seasonal vegetables, and the osmanthus rice cake handmade by the homestay auntie—each bite full of comforting, homey flavors.

After eating, the kids run wildly on the terrace again, while the adults lean against the railing chatting. The evening breeze carries the fresh scent of grass and trees, blowing away the day’s heat. Only when returning to the room do you notice the warm yellow lights already on, the sheets faintly scented with sunlight, and a small green plant on the bedside table. Opening the balcony door, you can still see the distant blurry tree shadows and scattered lights. The facilities are thoughtful too—the air conditioning temperature is just right, and the hot water in the bathroom comes quickly and steadily. After washing away the day’s fatigue, lying on the soft bed, even the dreams feel warm.

A weekend like this has no rushed itinerary, only the joy of playing in water, the leisure of petting cats, the aroma of food, and the comfort of waking up refreshed. Chunli Homestay is like a gentle container, carefully holding all the happiness and ease inside.
