Traveling after becoming a mom shouldn’t be a struggle.

This time, I took my child to check in at the super popular Chongming Xinlan Tiandi Hotel. Two days and one night there were so relaxing that I almost forgot I was a mom and felt like a princess on vacation.

In the past, traveling with kids was a real physical challenge. But this time was truly different. The hotel understands families with children perfectly, activating a “worry-free mode” from check-in to check-out. Whether it’s the facilities, services, or environment, it makes you want to say: this is exactly where you should stay when traveling with kids!

The hotel is located on Beiyan Highway in Chongming District, Shanghai, about an hour’s drive away, making it perfect for a weekend mini-vacation. The entire park is surrounded by greenery and lake views, with air so fresh it feels like a natural oxygen bar. Every snapshot looks like a forest-themed photo shoot, no filter needed.

What the kids love most is the huge lawn and the petting zoo. They can interact up close with lambs, rabbits, and ponies, with staff providing explanations—safe and fun. On the lawn, they can play frisbee, kick balls, and fly kites, finally letting someone else take over their energy.

No worries if it rains—the indoor children’s playground is over 200 square meters, temperature-controlled, and fully padded for safety. It has slides, a ball pit, building blocks, and a role-playing house. I enjoyed a latte in the nearby coffee area and checked my phone while my child played for two hours without wanting to leave.

We stayed in a family suite, which was spacious and full of thoughtful details.

Breakfast was abundant, with both Western and Chinese options, plus baby-specific porridge, steamed snacks, and a fruit section. They even had a baby food processor ready. For dinner, I recommend the “Lan·Shi Ji” restaurant, which specializes in local river seafood and farmhouse dishes. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors mild, and it’s safe for babies to eat.

Around 6 p.m. is the best time to visit the petting zoo—the animals are most active and it’s not too sunny. The park also has an ecological trail perfect for walking or cycling, lined with reeds and small lakes. Occasionally, you can see egrets flying by, like walking inside a painting.

Here are some practical tips for you: it’s best to check in on Friday night to avoid weekend crowds; you can reserve children’s supplies in advance by phone or through the mini-program; wear comfortable shoes as the park is large but stroller-friendly; driving is the most convenient—just navigate to “Chongming Xinlan Tiandi Hotel,” which offers free parking.

Traveling after becoming a mom doesn’t have to be more exhausting; it’s about choosing the right place. Chongming Xinlan Tiandi Hotel truly helped me find the balance of “taking care of kids while living life.” Next time, I want to bring my parents for a three-generation healing trip.

I recommend all moms try this once—a relaxing, worry-free, and quality family mini-vacation.
