Walks in Shanghai

Shanghai is an incredibly dynamic city where history and futurism intertwine. Walking through it is the best way to feel its pulse.

The Bund
· What it is: A historic waterfront along the Huangpu River. On one side, you'll find an "open-air museum" of buildings in neoclassical, art deco, and neo-renaissance styles (former banks and offices of international companies from the early 20th century). On the other side, there's a futuristic view of Pudong's skyscrapers. Take a stroll from the Garden Bridge to the former British Consulate. Admire the architecture: the Customs House with its clock (the "Little Big Ben") and the Peace Hotel. Tip: The best time to visit is in the morning when the sun illuminates Pudong, and there are fewer tourists.
