Dongping National Forest Park

One of Shanghai's top ten new leisure attractions, Dongping National Forest Park is located in the north-central part of Chongming Island, 12 kilometers from Nanmen Port (the county town). Covering a total area of 3.55 square kilometers, it is the largest artificial plain forest in East China and the largest forest park in Shanghai.

Dongping National Forest Park integrates various functions such as forest sightseeing, conference tourism, rehabilitation, leisure vacations, and interactive entertainment, making it an ideal destination for people from home and abroad to reconnect with nature.

The park, formerly known as Dongping Forest Farm, was established in 1959 through land reclamation. After more than 30 years of development, the park boasts lush forests and a rich natural atmosphere. Key tourist facilities within the park include a uniquely designed "crab"-shaped multifunctional conference center, a forest bar, a forest rehabilitation center, a forest beach, a water amusement park, a beach volleyball court, a youth camping base, a horse-riding field, forest hammocks, outdoor cooking and barbecue areas, flower and fruit gardens, forest villas, a forest maze, windmills, forest sunbathing areas, hunting grounds, paintball shooting, grass skiing, rock climbing, and more.

Transportation
Dongping National Forest Park is located in the north-central part of Chongming Island, 12 kilometers from Nanmen Port (the county town). Visitors can take the Shen-Chong Line from the North District Bus Station or the Nan-Dong Line and Nan-Jiang Line from Chongming Nanmen Bus Station to reach the park. Alternatively, you can take the Shen-Chong Line 1 (departing from Gonghe Xin Road and Zhongshan North Road) via the Yangtze River Tunnel and Bridge to Nanmen, with a full ticket price of 20 yuan. Another option is to take Line 2 (departing from Pudong Science and Technology Museum) to the temporary transportation hub in Chenjia Town, Chongming, and then transfer to other buses to reach the park.
