✓ Location: Located on Middle Huaihai Road, very close to the Wukang Mansion. Despite being in a busy urban area, it is surprisingly quiet once you step inside.
Visiting Duration: You can leisurely explore the place in about an hour. Upon entering, you'll see a white statue of Soong Ching Ling, which exudes a strong presence. The artifact museum that follows is well worth a visit, especially the Sun Yat-sen seal meticulously preserved by Soong Ching Ling.
【Tips】 There are many rules in the residence:
✓ No photography inside! Keep your phone and camera away.
✓ Shoe covers are required to enter the main building.
✓ It can get very crowded, and the visiting route is fixed, so you might feel "pushed along." If you want to take your time reading the exhibit descriptions, it's better to book a guided tour; otherwise, you might feel lost.
Main Building and Surroundings
The exterior of the main building is unique, resembling a ship! It is said to have been built by a former ship merchant. The furniture and arrangements inside are preserved as they were during Soong Ching Ling's lifetime. For instance, the living room features Xu Beihong's "Galloping Horse" Chinese painting and a portrait of Sun Yat-sen. The rattan furniture in the second-floor bedroom was part of her wedding dowry, giving a strong sense of history. Although photography is not allowed, seeing these artifacts in person feels like a journey through time.
The outdoor environment of the residence is fantastic!
Surrounded by over thirty century-old camphor trees, just looking at the trees is soothing. Soong Ching Ling truly had a fondness for camphor trees. Behind the main building, there is a lush green lawn garden, perfect for photography! Facing the main building from the garden, you can capture historical architectural photos with great character. There's also a pigeon house! It turns out Soong Ching Ling loved raising white pigeons during her lifetime.
Overall, the artifact exhibitions in the residence narrate the history of the Republic of China and Soong Ching Ling's life from a specific perspective. If you're interested in this period of history, this is a must-visit attraction.
