Want to explore China's maritime history? Then you have to visit the China Maritime Museum! It's China's only national-level maritime museum, nestled peacefully on the shores of Dishui Lake in Pudong's Lingang New City.
This museum, a full three stories high, feels like a vast ocean. It houses a collection of artifacts and scientific knowledge from ancient times to the present day. If you want to explore it in detail, you'll need two hours! Entering the museum is like stepping on a time ship, traveling through six themed channels, including the "China Maritime History Museum" and the "Ship Museum."
Here are countless exquisite ship models, ranging from small fishing boats to massive warships. Even more exciting, you can actually take the helm and see firsthand how ships navigate the waves. In addition to the stories displayed on the placards, multimedia videos complement the exhibits, providing essential maritime knowledge, making the learning process both easy and effective.
When you're tired, there's a 4D cinema where you can experience the waves, a spherical planetarium where you can gaze at the stars, or a cafe where you can relax.
However, be aware of its secluded location: there are few shops nearby, and the nearest subway station is three kilometers away! Be sure to have change or a transportation card ready for bus transfers.
If you're hungry, your only option is the restaurant on the first floor, but the prices might make your wallet a little seasick.
