Stroll through Shanghai’s most bustling golden district 🛍️, from Nanjing West Road all the way to Nanjing East Road, and experience the prosperity and fashion of the historic foreign concession. This route offers both shopping and plenty of hidden artistic corners to discover, with plenty of spots to rest whenever you get tired~
🎡 Highlights:
📍 Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street (Nanjing East Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai | Open all day)
Shanghai’s most famous commercial street, about 1 kilometer long, best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Along the way, you’ll find century-old brands, international flagship stores, and many popular food spots. It’s especially beautiful at night when the lights come on—every photo looks like a masterpiece.
📍 Zhangyuan (258 Maoming North Road | 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM)
A lesser-known spot near Nanjing West Road, originally an old lane transformed into a trendy park. It preserves the architectural features of Shanghai’s Shikumen style while incorporating creative shops and art installations. Perfect for an afternoon tea break or visiting at night for great nightscape photos!
💡 Practical Tips:
1⃣️ Walking the entire pedestrian street takes about 40 minutes; wear comfortable shoes
2⃣️ Weekends are crowded; consider visiting during off-peak hours
3⃣️ Fengshun Road near Zhangyuan has many affordable snack shops
4⃣️ For photos of the Lujiazui skyline, go to the entrance of the Peace Hotel
🍽️ Food Recommendations:
✔️ Wang Bao He Hairy Crab (a time-honored brand on the pedestrian street)
