Ring-tailed lemurs sunbathing at Shanghai Wild Animal Park

On Lemur Island at Shanghai Wild Animal Park, ring-tailed lemurs from Madagascar are performing an interesting sunbathing ritual. These primitive primates have long snouts and fox-like eyes, with tails featuring 11-12 black and white stripes, each unique, serving as both a "social tool" and an "identity card." They use their tails to "greet," warn, and even during mating season, they rub their tail glands to release scents, engaging in "stinky battles" among males to compete for mating rights. Ring-tailed lemurs are "early risers," collectively "sunbathing" during the day, stretching their limbs to let the fur on their chest and abdomen absorb sunlight, their gaze firm like "worshippers of the sun." This seemingly sacred ritual is actually their way of warming up by using sunlight to dispel the cold of the night, as their abdominal fur is thin and their ability to regulate body temperature is weak. In the ring-tailed lemur community, mothers hold the highest status, embodying "matriarchal power." Come to Shanghai Wild Animal Park to observe these "worshippers of the sun" up close, experience their unique charm and interesting lives, and you will surely be full of surprises!
