Jiangxi Wugong Mountain Snow Viewing Guide! Hiking through sea of clouds and rime, super convenient departure from Guangzhou and Shenzhen

Friends in the south, do you especially long for snowy scenes when winter comes? This year, don’t just think about Hengshan, I found you an amazing snow viewing spot—Wugong Mountain in Jiangxi! Here you can enjoy alpine meadows covered in silver, and unlock the triple romance of “snow scenery + sea of clouds + sunrise” all at once. It’s super convenient to get there from Guangzhou and Shenzhen~

❄️ When is the best time to see the snow?
Based on past experience:
Mid to late December: The mountain top starts to wear white, and rime gradually forms
January to February: Snowfall is most frequent, the best period to see the “white Wugong Mountain”
Tip: To catch the snow scenery, watch the cold wave signals and check the weather forecast in advance for the most reliable info

🌨️ How to tell if it will snow?
1️⃣ When the temperature at the foot of the mountain drops below 0°C and there is a cold wave warning, it’s very likely to snow at the summit
2️⃣ Add “Wugong Mountain Golden Summit” location in your weather app; if the forecast shows over 50% chance of snow for 3 consecutive days, you can get ready to go
📸 Photo tip: After continuous low temperatures, when a sunny day comes, the rime is especially sparkling. Paired with the sea of clouds, every shot is beautiful

🚄 Super simple transportation:
High-speed rail: From Guangzhou South/Shenzhen North to Pingxiang North, about 3.5 hours
After arrival: Take a bus to the visitor center (27 RMB/person, 1 hour) or carpool (30 RMB/person) for more flexibility

🏠 Accommodation options:
At the foot of the mountain: From tens to 200 RMB, convenient for meals, suitable for budget travelers
On the mountain: Stay here if you want to watch the sunrise! There are ordinary tents around 100 RMB and starry sky tents around 500 RMB

⚠️ Important reminders:
Some cable cars may close in icy and snowy weather, remember to check the park notices in advance
You must get to Zhong’an cable car before 4 PM when going down, otherwise you have to hike down

🎒 Practical tips:
Gear: Waterproof and anti-slip hiking shoes + crampons, dress in three layers of “quick-dry shirt + fleece + shell jacket”
Supplies: Food on the summit is expensive, it’s recommended to bring self-heating meals; free hot water is available at stations, just bring a thermos
Safety: Night hiking may be suspended in bad weather, remember to stick to the main trails for safety

Save this guide well, and this winter, just go and see the snow scenery you’ve been longing for!
