The most beautiful temple in Shangri-La

When you come to Shangri-La, a place you can't miss is Songzanlin Monastery, or as many people call it "Little Potala" because its architecture is similar to the Potala Palace in Tibet, but it is located in the middle of a valley in China. The atmosphere is peaceful, sacred, and beautiful beyond words to describe it.

We went in the morning, the weather was cool and comfortable, the dark blue sky contrasted with the golden temple top on the mountain. Looking from below, you can see the reflection in the water exactly like a postcard. Before entering the temple, you have to buy a ticket at the front and take a bus in (personal cars are not allowed).

Inside the temple is very spacious. There is a large temple with Tibetan Buddha statues, colorful paintings, and ancient patterned walls. After praying, I recommend walking up to the viewpoint on top. You can see the view of the entire temple with the snowy mountains in the distance. It is worth the effort of walking up.

Another highlight is seeing the little lamas walking or studying in the temple grounds. They look simple, smile easily, and are very friendly. I secretly felt that the energy here is really peaceful. It's like getting to rest your mind without trying.

Before going back, stop by a small shop near the exit for a cup of hot tea. Looking at the temple view again, I still don't get bored. For those who are looking for something more than just a beautiful trip, but also a sense of peace, Songzanlin Temple is a place you really must come to. 💛
