It features a rare circular radial road network structure among cities nationwide, along with a unique blend of Chinese and Western arcade-style architecture.

The buildings in the area combine traditional Chaoshan architecture, Southeast Asian styles, and European influences, showcasing a distinctive fusion of East and West with a diverse and complex character.

Notable attractions include Shantou's oldest seven-story department store, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Pavilion, Laomagong Theater, and Anping Post Office.
