Shaoguan City Citywalk 2.0 is here

Shaoguan City Citywalk 2.0 is here‼️‼️‼️⚠️ This note covers relatively off-the-beaten-path spots, more suitable for those visiting a second time.

🔆As the northern gateway of Guangdong, I have been to Shaoguan more than twenty or thirty times, except for Lechang which I haven’t explored yet. Basically, every time I travel north and return, I transit through Shaoguan/Hengyang before going back to school. Usually, I just go to Qiuxuo for a coffee break and rest, without much sightseeing. This time, returning from Yueyang, I had a 4-hour transit in Shaoguan and the weather was nice, so I decided to citywalk some corners I hadn’t visited before. I did a citywalk in Shaoguan two years ago; if interested, you can check my homepage. This time, I went to places I missed last time, but still skipped quite a few due to time and energy constraints (such as Xihe Church, Furong Mountain, Museum, Shibei Lake, etc.).

🚶Citywalk route (the order of pictures is the citywalk order): Shaoguan East Station - ⛩️ Dajian Zen Temple - Xiahou Street - Fengcai Building - ⛩️ Shaozhou Confucian Academy - Century-old East Street (Dongti Road) - ⛪️ Catholic Church - ⛩️ Guangzhou Guild Hall (currently under renovation) - ⛩️ Taifu Temple - ☕️ Qiuxuo Coffee - ⛰️ Maofeng Park - Northern Expedition War Memorial Hall - Site of the Five Provinces and Five Li Pavilion in Northern Guangdong - Zhongshan Park - Shaoguan East Station (Train Station)

☕️ Coffee COTD: Qiuxuo Coffee | BESIDE THE RIVER

🍔 Food Guide:
Lunch: Bailu Noodle Shop (recommend the tossed noodles) | Wanjiale Xiaoxiao Eatery (sesame paste) | Tongfa Rice Noodle Roll Shop
Dinner: Lu Ji Old Brand Restaurant (a very distinctive old-brand Shaoguan cuisine spot, my favorite big food stall, signature wild chili steamed bamboo sausage and duck five parts, iron plate large intestine stuffed with chili, fresh, spicy, and perfect with rice)
Xiongxin Restaurant: Nanxiong cuisine represents spicy food in Guangdong. You don’t have to go to Nanxiong to enjoy it; this Nanxiong cuisine restaurant near the train station is definitely worth a visit. Recommended dishes are sour bamboo shoots duck and stuffed tofu.

🚗 Nearby (if you have enough time), you can visit Nanhua Zen Temple and Maba Man Site
