If you are also tired of crowded tourist spots, this quiet and healing East China Sea island—Shengsi Huanglong Island—is really worth a special trip‼️
This is a paradise island that doesn’t require a travel guide, just book your round-trip ferry tickets a week in advance and then relax. (Hand-drawn map P18)
🏨【No need to worry about which guesthouse to stay at】
Currently, only three guesthouses on the island are available for booking on OTA platforms.
▪️Top choice is Dalezhiyie (P1-6), the absolute best in the entire Shengsi area. It occupies the most beautiful location on the island, with sea views on three sides and sunrise visible from the rooms. The rooms are well-designed and spacious, the minibar is completely free, and they provide disinfectant wipes, makeup remover wipes, mosquito patches, and other amenities. Weekend rooms are in high demand and need to be booked one to two weeks in advance. The downside is the food is average, breakfast options are limited, main meals are slow to serve, and you need to pre-select dishes as there is no option for ordering on the spot.
▪️Located in the northern part of the island, Dielai (P13-16) is also a good choice. Weekend rooms are easier to book, prices are affordable, and you can watch the sunset. It opened in 2025, with public areas including a pool table and chess room, suitable for groups to gather and spend the evening. The restaurant only requires advance notice of dining time, and dishes can be ordered on-site. The small yellow croaker is very delicious—I ordered it three times in a row.
▪️There is also a community center on Ideal Island to try next time.
▪️Jixiashan next to Dalezhiyie is under construction (P17) and is expected to open in 2026. Looking forward to it; the number of tourists on the island will probably increase then.
🍽️【No need to worry about where to eat】
There are almost no independently operated formal restaurants on the island, only one noodle shop and one café. The most convenient way is to dine at your guesthouse. You can bring some fruit and snacks when you arrive.
🛵【No need to bother arranging entertainment】
Rent a shared electric scooter (P7-12) for a round-island ride, which is definitely the best way to explore Huanglong Island. There are docking points near the pier and guesthouses. The ride takes about an hour, especially along the east coast where the scenery is beautiful all the way. It’s recommended to go after 4 PM when the east side road is shaded and less sunny. Riding with the sea breeze and sunset is exactly how a weekend should be~
If you want to try sea fishing, you need to bring all your own equipment. There are no charter boat services or fishing gear rentals on the island. No need to climb rocks; the Shiao Village pier is good for fishing. Friends in my group caught sea bass and tiger fish, and you can ask the guesthouse kitchen to cook them for you.
🚢【About transportation】
You can buy ferry tickets or combined bus and ferry tickets from the WeChat public account You Shengsi. There is currently a direct route from Shanghai to Huanglong Island, but it is said that this route will be canceled after the off-season, requiring a transfer at Sijiao Island.
So, hurry up and go experience it~
