Step into the alpine wetland paradise "Dajiuhu"🏞️
If Guanmenshan is a "deep tour" exploring forest secrets, then Dajiuhu is a "slow tour" strolling through a "wetland in the clouds." Known as the "Hulunbuir of Hubei" and the "natural air conditioner of Central China," it is a paradise for photography enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility.
📍Attraction Information:
Address: Dajiuhu Town, Shennongjia Forestry District, Hubei Province (southwest Shennongjia)
Tickets: Usually included in the Shennongjia Six Scenic Spots combined ticket (more cost-effective). If purchased separately, about 100 RMB.
Opening Hours: Approximately 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (sightseeing bus operation hours). Strongly recommend staying overnight to enjoy the morning mist and sunset!
✨Highlights:
Nine plateau lakes, nine different sceneries: Dajiuhu consists of nine lakes of various sizes, each with its unique charm. You can take the scenic area’s small train or hike leisurely along the boardwalks, wandering among the lake views and mountains.
Morning mist fantasy, like entering a fairyland: This is the essence of Dajiuhu! Be sure to see the morning mist at dawn. The thin fog rising over the lake, combined with distant mountains, meadows, and grazing cattle and sheep, forms a stunning ink painting—perfect for photography.
Close interaction with sika deer at the Deer Park: Near Lake No. 4, there is a deer park where you can feed and take photos with adorable sika deer, reminiscent of Nara, Japan. Very popular with children and women.🦌
Stunning sunsets and starry skies: The evening glow dyes the lake red, and if the night is clear, the minimal light pollution allows you to see a dazzling Milky Way.
📸Photo Tips:
Morning mist is the ace: Between 5-7 AM, Lakes No. 2 and No. 5 are the best spots to capture the morning mist.
Beauty of reflections: When there is no wind, the lake surface is like a mirror, perfectly reflecting distant mountains and trees, creating symmetrical compositions that are very photogenic.
Deer park interaction: Take photos with gentle sika deer for lively and fun shots.
Clothing suggestions: Try pastoral, ancient-style, or fresh-colored outfits to match the vast wetland scenery.
🚗Transportation Tips:
Mandatory transfer: All private cars must park at the Dajiuhu Visitor Transfer Center and purchase a sightseeing bus ticket (including the small train) to enter the wetland park.
Internal transport: The small train inside the scenic area runs in a loop, with stops at each lake, allowing you to get on and off anytime—very convenient.
Accommodation suggestion: Stay in Pingqian Ancient Town (where the transfer center is located). The town offers many dining and lodging options, making it easy to enter the scenic area early the next day.
💡Warm Tips:
Keep warm! Keep warm! Keep warm! Dajiuhu is at a higher altitude (above 1700 meters), so even in summer, mornings and nights are very cold. Be sure to bring a thick jacket, and even a light down jacket is not an exaggeration.
Sun and rain protection: High-altitude areas have strong UV rays, so sun protection is necessary. The weather is changeable, so an umbrella or raincoat is essential.
Bring snacks: There are few dining spots inside the scenic area, and prices are high. It’s recommended to bring some chocolate and water to replenish energy.
