| A natural treasure in the city. ✨ I recently discovered a hidden gem in Shenzhen—Yangtai Mountain Forest Park. It's truly worth a visit, and I'm excited to share my experience with you today.
Park Overview
Yangtai Mountain Forest Park is located in the northwest of Shenzhen, at the junction of Bao'an, Longhua, and Nanshan districts, covering a total area of 28.57 square kilometers. With a forest coverage rate of over 98%, it's known as the "city's oxygen bar" and is a perfect place for Shenzhen residents to relax and unwind.
Natural Landscape
- Majestic Peaks: Dayangtai Mountain, with an altitude of 587.1 meters, is known as the "highest peak in western Shenzhen." Standing on the summit, you'll have a panoramic view of the entire Shenzhen cityscape—a truly breathtaking experience.
- Gurgling Streams: The park has five small and medium-sized reservoirs and over 20 springs and streams. Strolling along the streams, listening to the gurgling water, and feeling the cool mist, you'll feel like you've stepped into a paradise.
- Abundant Vegetation: The park boasts a wide variety of plants, with over 400 species from 114 families. Among them are nationally protected plants such as桫椤 (Alsophila spinulosa) and 苏铁蕨 (Brainea insignis). Walking through the lush greenery, surrounded by the songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers, is incredibly refreshing.
Cultural Landscape and Historical Significance
- The Great Rescue Sculpture: The "Great Rescue" sculpture in the park square vividly depicts the historical scene of the Dongjiang Column rescuing a large number of patriotic celebrities, including Mao Dun and Zou Taofen, from Japanese-occupied Hong Kong during the Anti-Japanese War. It's a powerful reminder of the rich history of this land.
- Shiyan Yangtai Mountain Hiking Square: Covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, the square consists of a front plaza, Lotus Plaza, and Lotus Pond. On both sides of the square are Suzhou-style buildings and corridors. The east-facing wall features a stone inscription of "Ode to Shiyan," while the west-facing wall displays "The Story of Yangtai Mountain Hiking Square," showcasing the cultural heritage of Yangtai Mountain.
Hiking Routes
- Shiyan--Dayangtai Mountain Route: Starting from the Zhixin Pavilion trailhead, the route passes through Juxian Pavilion, Wumingjian, Chunfeng Shili, Fengmen'ao Archway, and Feilong Chengyuntai, finally reaching the summit of Dayangtai Mountain.
- Longhua Dalang--Xiaoyangtai--Dayangtai Route: Starting from the Dalang Square entrance, this route passes through Wolong Yidan, Lanshengtai, Butterfly Valley, and Qiushuitai. With numerous forks along the way, this route offers diverse scenery.
