A Disappointing Stay at The Langham, Shenzhen

Looking for a weekend getaway, I chose The Langham, Shenzhen from the city's many hotels. I was expecting a luxurious experience, but was left somewhat disappointed.

Convenient Transportation and a Prime Location
The hotel is next to Chegongmiao subway station, making it extremely convenient to get around. Whether you're heading to the bustling business district of Futian or the vibrant area of Nanshan, you can get there quickly. This was a great convenience and saved a lot of commuting time.

Outdated Facilities Fall Short of Luxury
Walking into the hotel, you can clearly see the signs of age, with the overall facilities being rather old. The rooms are ordinary and lack the eye-catching sophistication of a luxury hotel. I was told that because the hotel was fully booked, I was assigned a room that seemed to be designed for disabled guests. Not only was there no separation between the shower and toilet, but the quality of the bedding was also very average. This is not in line with The Langham's brand positioning and hardly matches the definition of luxury; it's more like a regular five-star hotel.

Inflexible Service Detracts from the Experience
The service was generally acceptable, but two details were unsettling. When I asked if I could change to a king-size bed, I received a blunt response with no room for flexibility. The way I was asked if I remembered the breakfast time when I was given the room card also seemed very unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable.

Breakfast Experience Needs Improvement
The breakfast area was overcrowded, and I had to wait in line even at 10:00 am. I was eventually seated at a temporary small table in the hallway. The beef noodles I ordered took half an hour to arrive, and the food didn't taste good. The carrot juice was watered down and tasteless. The quality of the breakfast was simply unsatisfactory.

Overall, my stay at The Langham, Shenzhen was average. Although the price is consistently below CNY 1,000, it's still not worth the money, and I probably won't choose to stay there again.
