Shenzhen's ultimate hiking experience, a hidden gem few know about

Staying in Yantian, I accidentally came across a guide recommending Enshang Reservoir. With the weather not too hot, let's go.

🚉 Transportation Guide:
Many people take the subway to Haishan Station, then walk about 25 minutes to the park management office to start hiking. You can also drive directly to Yuelin Hotel to park for 16 yuan a day, saving energy for the hike.
Elderly and children who don’t want to hike can drive or take the Shanhai Line bus along the road, which takes 5-10 minutes. Shanhai Line timetable:
Uphill route: Haishan Road Seaside Terminal → Yantian District Government East → Wutong Mountain Forest Reception Hall
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday (8:00-16:30, departs when full or every half hour)
Downhill route: Wutong Mountain Forest Reception Hall → Park Welcome Plaza → Yantian District Government East → Yihai City → Haishan Road Seaside Terminal
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday (8:30-17:30, departs when full or every half hour)

❤ Reasons to Recommend:
From the park management office, walk up the steps along Enshang Road. The park layers unfold endlessly with stunning scenery. Wutong Mountain Forest Park is really huge, starting with various volcanic rocks and plant introductions, an impressive overpass, beautiful scenery with few people, and various valley parks that feel like stepping into another dimension.
Enshang Waterfall currently has no water, so you can head straight toward Enshang Reservoir. There are guiding signs all along the way, so no worries about getting lost. This all-age trail offers the best hiking experience in Shenzhen, rivaling the famous MacLehose Trail. It’s lush with greenery and provides excellent sun protection, making the walk very comfortable.
Enshang Wetland Park is nestled within Wutong Mountain National Forest Park. It boasts vibrant vegetation and various rare animals. Along the way, you can enjoy mountain and sea views that are breathtaking. You’ll experience the magnificent integration of mountain and sea landscapes and the green ecology brought by modern comprehensive management of Yantian Mid-Mountain Park. Besides a distant view of Yantian Port, there are many telescopes to observe the mountains and sea of Hong Kong across the way.

🌟 Highlights:
The Forest Reception Hall is the highlight of the route. Everyone you meet says how beautiful it is, amazed that Shenzhen has such a stunning place... The Lanli Viewing Platform offers panoramic views of Yantian Port’s sea and the city skyline. On the other side, you can see Wutong’s misty clouds and the secret realm of the green wilderness. The heart-shaped island, ancient tree lawns, and wetland scenery are especially perfect for camping, picnics, and photography. Walking another 800 meters uphill leads to the reservoir, a deep emerald pool over 200 meters deep, seemingly ordinary but rich in oxygen ions.

📝 Tips:
If you get tired, you can transfer to the Shanhai Bus at the Forest Reception Hall for 6 yuan per person, which takes you back to Yuelin Hotel, Haishan Subway Station, and Yihai City. The olive chicken after descending is also quite tasty.

This hike completely changed our stereotypical impression of Shatoujiao as just a port and Chung Ying Street. Shenzhen is getting more and more beautiful!
