【Shizuoka】The stunning white sandy beach of Shirahama Coast

I recently visited Shimoda, located on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture. It's a town blessed with abundant natural beauty, featuring both mountains and the sea, and wherever you go, you can feel the refreshing breeze.

Wanting to see more of the ocean, I headed to Shirahama Coast. The scenery was breathtaking, with a vast stretch of white sandy beach and an endless view of the blue sea. The waves attracted many surfers, adding to the lively atmosphere.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy your time here—relaxing while gazing at the ocean, playing in the sand, or surfing the waves.

From Izukyu-Shimoda Station, buses run about 1–2 times per hour. A 15-minute bus ride will take you to the Shirahama Coast bus stop, making it a convenient option for those using public transportation. However, keep in mind that the buses are infrequent, so plan your schedule accordingly.
