Taking on the challenge of the mixed-gender bath requires quite a bit of courage 🤣. The population density is higher than expected, and near the entrance, many gentlemen are waiting... 🫢

Here are some tips and precautions for entering the Sen-nin Buro. Feel free to use them as a reference 🤍

☑︎ Towels are allowed!!
☑︎ Bathing clothes are allowed!!
☑︎ Swimsuits are not allowed.
☑︎ It's honestly tough for women to enter alone 😭. Having a male companion is reassuring.
☑︎ Ask your male companion to meet you at the door connecting to the women's bath.
☑︎ The recommended time for the mixed-gender bath is after 10 PM. The bath is open 24 hours, so late-night or early-morning baths are also great options.
☑︎ Be prepared for "wani-san" (men) waiting at the entrance 🙃.
☑︎ The women's bath is spacious enough, so if mixed-gender bathing feels too challenging, enjoy the "Manyo no Yu" (women's bath) instead. ※ The photo is of the women's bath.
☑︎ Guests can borrow as many towels as they need, so you can visit the bath multiple times.
☑︎ The front desk closes at 9 PM, so it's better to borrow towels in advance. While towels are placed in front of the desk, they were all gone by morning 🥲.
☑︎ The ratio of men to women in the baths was quite unbalanced 😂. Day visitors seem to be mostly men.

I personally wish there were designated "women-only" times for even just an hour 🫢. The women's large bath is very spacious, and depending on the time, it can feel like a private bath. I think the women's bath alone is sufficient 🫧. Of course, the vastness of the mixed-gender bath is appealing, so it would be great if it were made a bit more accessible for women.

That said, the Sen-nin Buro itself is a truly wonderful hot spring, so I highly recommend it to hot spring enthusiasts 🤍.
