When the wheels roll over the fresh grass scent of Ruoergai, you truly feel the heartbeat of Western Sichuan. Driving deep into the grasslands, Meiduoganglan Tranquil Manor rests on this green carpet. Opening the window reveals endless fields of Gesang flowers and distant herds. At night, you fall asleep to the sound of the wind and a sky full of stars, with even your dreams touched by sweetness. Just after setting down your luggage, the innkeeper serves warm butter tea, its rich milky aroma mixed with the scent of grass instantly dispelling travel fatigue.
In Ruoergai, time should be given to the grasslands and the wind. During the day, you can at least gallop around the inn’s surroundings, watching cattle and sheep scattered across the meadows like fallen stars; at night, gather around the bonfire to listen to locals sing herding songs, join the Aba Guozhuang dance, and watch the Milky Way fill the night sky, leaving the city’s noise far behind. To get closer to nature, simply step down from the inn’s viewing platform to walk on the grass accompanied by Gesang flowers, reaching an open hillside where you can overlook the beautiful intertwining of grasslands and clouds, and along the way, you might encounter yaks grazing quietly. Returning to the inn at dusk, try the Tibetan or Sichuan cuisine: tender hand-pulled beef, tsampa with butter tea, and crispy lamb chops make the perfect pair. Every bite carries the rustic charm of the grasslands, warming both heart and stomach. Meiduoganglan · Tranquil Manor | MARSH · Manor
A must-visit is Flower Lake, the "blue gem" of the grasslands. Walking on the wooden boardwalk, you may unexpectedly encounter wetland creatures. The tranquility of Flower Lake is intoxicating, and the vitality and purity of the wetlands are nature’s gentlest gifts. The breathtaking First Bend of the Yellow River can only be truly understood in person: standing on the viewing platform, the Yellow River winds and twists, sketching the gentle curves of the earth. At sunset, the whole world is dyed golden red, a grandeur etched deep into memory. It hides another Chinese image of the Mother River—not the roaring Hukou Waterfall, but with its winding posture, it tells the story of the vastness and inclusiveness of the grasslands. Here, every view is a gentle dialogue with nature and faith.
