Nestled on the shores of Lake Suwa in Shimosuwa-machi, Nagano Prefecture (10616-540, Suwa-gun 393-0045), the Harmo Museum opened on 26 April 1990 and is built around the concept of “Art and Naïveté.”
Inside, the museum boasts an impressive collection of roughly 400–450 works, focusing on naïve art from around the world—featuring artists such as Henri Rousseau, André Bauchant and Louis Vivin—alongside major 20th-century figures like Salvador Dalí and Marc Chagall.
For your visit: the museum is open daily from 9 :00 a.m. (until 6 :00 p.m. outside October–March) and the adult admission is around ¥1,000. It’s a serene stop where you can enjoy art in a tranquil lakeside setting—ideal for about 1–1.5 hours of leisurely exploration.
