BYAKU Narai, located in Narai-juku, Nagano Prefecture, is an inn built to blend seamlessly into the 400-year-old post town.
This over 100-year-old townhouse has been carefully renovated, beautifully blending traditional and modern design.
The guest rooms, filled with the scent of wood, are a tranquil space exuding the beauty of space. Outside the windows, the old townscape stretches out quietly, making the passage of time seem more leisurely.
Dinner was at the attached restaurant, Kura.
A seasonal course menu centered around local ingredients was served.
The tableware and presentation were meticulously crafted, as if each dish had its own story. It was a special moment, where the bounty of the mountains and the artisan's handiwork resonated with each other.
In the morning, we enjoyed breakfast in the dining room, bathed in gentle sunlight.
Freshly cooked rice, miso soup, and side dishes made with seasonal Shinshu vegetables were served.
It was a time to calm our minds as the quiet town woke up.
A place that suits the "luxury of doing nothing."
This is a place you'll want to visit as an end in itself, rather than just as a stopover along the way.
