Shirakawa-go is a world-renowned heritage town, famous for its picturesque scenery. While the snow-covered winter landscape is stunning, the vibrant greenery of summer is equally breathtaking.
The gassho-style houses, known for their steeply angled thatched roofs, are a unique sight. I enjoyed the view both up close and from a distance.
About a 10-minute walk from the town center, there’s an observation deck where you can admire the gassho-style houses from above. Seeing the beautiful scenery, just like in the famous photos, with my own eyes was truly moving.
Since the gassho-style houses are vulnerable to fire, the use of fire in the surrounding area is strictly prohibited. Let’s follow the rules and enjoy the scenery responsibly.
