Shodoshima is the “olive island” of Japan and has a Mediterranean feel with a Japanese twist. I explored olive groves, scenic coastlines, and even a miniature replica of Greece’s Parthenon! There are quirky art installations, hiking trails, and peaceful beaches — plus amazing udon noodles. It’s super chill and perfect for a 1–2 day escape from Honshu.

💸Rough Budget: $60 (ferry, guesthouse, bike rental)
💡Top Tip: Get the ferry from Takamatsu — it’s the most scenic and easiest route to the island.
