Shuozhou Old City

Shuozhou Old City is located on Old South Street in Shuocheng District, Shuozhou City. It is one of the relatively early and well-preserved ancient cities in Shanxi Province. It was built during the Qin and Han dynasties, expanded during the Northern Qi period, and rebuilt at the end of the Yuan and the beginning of the Ming dynasties. The city wall has a square layout and is one of the earlier existing ancient city walls.
Within the old city, four main streets intersect in a grid pattern. Currently, there are notable buildings such as Chongfu Square, Wenchang Pavilion, South Gate, the old city wall, the ancient county office, distinctive residential houses, the three-arched gate, and the Confucian Temple. There are also various food restaurants, which are especially bustling at night.
