Located in Sarawak, Borneo, the Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre (Semenggoh Wildlife Center) offers a rare and unforgettable chance to see wild orangutans in their natural habitat. These critically endangered great apes are native to Borneo and Sumatra, and Semenggoh plays a vital role in their protection and rehabilitation.
From the main entrance, it’s a bit of a walk to the viewing area, but you can also take a shuttle if preferred. The highlight? The feeding sessions held at specific times, where semi-wild orangutans emerge from the forest for food — a truly magical and humbling experience.
Guides are on hand to share important information and safety tips, including what to do (and what not to do) during your visit.
Semenggoh isn’t a zoo — it’s a protected, conservation-focused space that reminds us how precious and vulnerable these incredible creatures are. A must-visit for wildlife lovers and responsible travelers.
