Preah Khan Temple

Preah Khan Temple is a sprawling and mysterious complex in Siem Reap, built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. Unlike the more famous Angkor Wat, Preah Khan is quieter, with winding corridors, hidden chambers, and overgrown roots that create an atmosphere of discovery and adventure. The temple served both as a Buddhist monastery and a school, and its intricate carvings and stone inscriptions tell stories of Khmer history and mythology. Walking through Preah Khan, you’ll notice the interplay of nature and architecture—trees growing through walls, moss covering stone, and sunlight filtering through the canopy. It’s a place where exploration feels personal, allowing visitors to imagine the lives of monks and royalty who once inhabited its halls.
