🦊 Peleș Epilogue: The Fox Who Wasn't in the Plan

– The Castle of Time
A 9-Part Journey Series: A Breathless Castle

The journey to Peleș Castle concludes with a simple yet powerful image. As the exploration of the castle's interior concludes, in a parking lot filled with the atmosphere of a street market and the scent of winter, the unexpected occurs.

A small reddish-brown fox quietly appears. It carefully bends down to sniff a crumb of bread. Although somewhat thin, it appears completely unafraid of humans. Its image, bathed in the late afternoon light, resembles something straight out of a European postcard. But what sets it apart is the wild scent of the wild, conveying the "reality" of survival, not a fairytale.

In fact, the forests surrounding Sinaia, part of the Carpathian Mountains, are still home to wild foxes. They often forage along the roads in winter, and many have become accustomed to humans through the feeding of tourists. The image we see is not a fictional animal, but a result of the coexistence between humans and nature in modern times.

The appearance of this fox, even though it's not in the script, steals the show. It teaches us that The true fulfillment of a trip lies not in seeing everything beautiful as expected, but in seeing "real life" that continues on, and its own simple beauty.
