Enroute to Dempsey Hill for a dinner with friends, we alighted at Napier MRT and decided to chill at Botanic Gardens first as we were still early for our reservation.
Singapore Botanic Gardens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near Orchard Road located at Cluny Road. Realizing I haven’t even been here once in my 7 years of working in Singapore, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check the gardens out. We entered from the Tanglin gate and just walked right through the gardens. The feeling that immediately took over me was that how peaceful it is inside. The smell, sounds, and all the greens surrounding you just somehow relaxes your mind. We sat at the Swan Lake gazebo, talked, took pictures, and went further inside the gardens. I noticed that all these towering trees were illuminated and fenced. There were not many people in there, just the occasional joggers and people walking their dogs, maybe because it’s a weekday. Knowing that we couldn’t see the whole garden as it is nighttime and we have an appointment, we just looked for one structure to cap off this side adventure. We looked for the Bandstand Gazebo as it is one of the more prominent structures that you will find when you searched for Botanic Gardens in the web. The maps and signages scattered around the area helped in searching for it. Upon reaching, since we were there at nighttime, the gazebo was illuminated making it much more glorious looking. After taking photos, we went on our way to Dempsey Hill.
I promised myself to come back at daytime but if you plan to go there at night, be careful of bug bites! Better put on insect repellent when visiting.
