Really beautiful place and absolutely fascinating. I knew a little bit before I went, but it turns out, of course, that I knew hardly anything. Really beautifully curated. We loved the video on the ground floor with the people talking about their experiences and their life.

Two small things - the video next to the jewellery and embroidery (with Raymond Wong) needs to have subtitles please. Couldn't hear what they were saying.

And I do think it needs a bigger more expansive shop. I would have loved to buy a magnet or keyring with the batik designs or pictures of the embroidery. Or t shirts or jewellery or literally anything. The shop there is v classy and expensive and doesn't sell a huge amount suitable for a tourist like me.

They are my only suggestions, otherwise I think this place is a must-visit when you're in Singapore if you're interested in the multiculturalism and social history of it
