Hey everyone, if you’re visiting Singapore, don’t miss Haji Lane! This art-filled alley is a perfect spot for stunning photos with just a casual snap.
📜 History Lesson
Haji Lane is located in the Kampong Glam area of Singapore. Before British colonization, it was first settled by artists from Indonesia and Malaysia. During British rule, Arabs, Indians, and Chinese gradually integrated here, making it a Muslim enclave. “Haji” refers to someone who has returned from Mecca in the Islamic world. Haji Lane used to be a quiet street lined with pre-war houses, but now it’s been revitalized by local designers and young entrepreneurs. Plus, in Singapore where graffiti is generally banned, Haji Lane is an exception, allowing unique and creative street art that adds to its artistic charm.
🚇 Transportation Guide
Take the MRT to Bugis Station and exit at Exit D. Walk along Victoria Street and you’ll see signs for Haji Lane—just follow them! You can also take a taxi and simply tell the driver “Haji Lane” for a quick and convenient ride.
