Udon Nights at Tamoya – Featuring the New Spicy Tan Tan Series

#springitinerary We ended up back at Tamoya Udon for dinner recently. It’s become a regular spot for us — easy, comforting, and always dependable. Their udon is handmade fresh daily, and you can really taste it in the texture. Thick, chewy, and just really satisfying with every bite.

They’ve introduced a new Spicy Tan Tan series, and we were curious to try it out. The series includes Spicy Tan Tan Tonkotsu Udon, Spicy Tan Tan Ebiko Dry Udon, Spicy Tan Tan Tonkotsu Ramen, and Spicy Tan Tan Don.

We went with the Spicy Tan Tan Tonkotsu Udon and the Spicy Tan Tan Ebiko Dry Udon. The Tonkotsu Udon came in a rich, spicy broth that was creamy with a good balance of heat. It’s topped with slices of chashu and an onsen egg with an oozing yolk — the kind of egg that blends right into the broth and makes everything more comforting.

The Ebiko Dry Udon was tossed in a savoury, spicy sauce and came with a really generous amount of ebiko. The little pops of flavour from the roe made it more interesting, especially with the springy udon noodles.

One of our favourite things at Tamoya is the free flow condiments station. You can help yourself to tempura bits, pickles, corn, garnishes, and more. It’s a nice little add-on that lets you customise your bowl the way you like it.

We visited the Suntec City outlet this time, but they’ve also got locations at Plaza Singapura and SingPost Centre.

Overall, still a solid choice when we want something fuss-free and satisfying — and the new Spicy Tan Tan dishes give us even more reason to keep coming back.
