The must-try classic cocktail at Long Bar, covered in peanut shells: the "Singapore Sling"

As soon as you step into Long Bar, you can immediately feel the crunch of crushed peanut shells underfoot. Once seated, a large burlap sack of peanuts is already on the table waiting for us 😋. Don’t hesitate or doubt—just throw the peanut shells directly on the floor! This is not only a fun tradition while enjoying a drink but also the only place in all of Singapore where littering won’t get you fined 🤣.

The most iconic and famous cocktail at Long Bar, the "Singapore Sling," has a history of over 100 years. Back in 1915, women were not allowed to drink alcohol in public, so the bartender created this classic and timeless "Singapore Sling" cocktail specifically for women at that time. This tropical cocktail is made with pineapple juice, lime juice, grenadine syrup, cherry liqueur, Curaçao, Bénédictine, and London dry gin. It tastes sweet and sour, like fruit juice, somewhat like today’s girly drinks 🤣. But don’t underestimate this pink, girly-looking cocktail—it has an alcohol content as high as 30% 🍹.

Currently, Long Bar only accepts reservations from guests staying at the Raffles Hotel; non-guests can only queue for a seat!
