Day 2 Discovery: “Our Cultural Medallion Story” at The Arts House

While exploring downtown Singapore, I discovered Our Cultural Medallion Story at The Arts House, formerly the Old Parliament. This free exhibition celebrates Singapore’s highest arts accolade, the Cultural Medallion, instituted in 1979 to honor individuals whose artistic excellence and commitment have enriched the nation’s cultural landscape.

The showcase features multimedia presentations, including videos, publications, and interactive displays, highlighting the achievements of over 130 recipients across various art forms. Visitors receive a Near Field Communication (NFC) token to engage with the exhibits and can explore a curated library of over 200 publications written by or about the recipients. Located in a historic building, this exhibition offers an educational and inspiring experience, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in Singapore’s rich cultural heritage.
